Experience the Beauty of Convict Lake on Horseback

We warmly invite you to explore the breathtaking scenery of our beloved Convict Lake with a peaceful horseback ride along its northern shore. This guided, 3-mile walking trail ride follows the picturesque Convict Lake hiking trail and offers stunning views from the saddle of a gentle, well-trained horse.

Please note that Convict Lake sits at an elevation of 8,000 feet, where weather conditions can change quickly—heat, rain, or even hail may occur. We recommend dressing in long sleeves and pants, wearing sunscreen, and bringing a rain jacket just in case.

Horseback riding can be more physically demanding than expected, so be sure to eat beforehand and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Complimentary granola bars and bottled water will be available at the corral.

Important Horseback Riding Information:

We’re excited to welcome you for a memorable ride through the mountains! To help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests, please review the following important guidelines:

• Rider Age Requirement: Children between the ages of 6 and 15 must be accompanied by an adult in their party.
• Safety & Eligibility: Our wranglers use a height-to-weight ratio to assess each rider’s ability to participate safely on mountainous trails. For safety reasons, some guests may not meet riding eligibility.
• Weight Limit: There is a maximum weight limit of 240 lbs. for all riders.

To help our guides prepare and keep rides on schedule, please provide each rider’s age, height, and weight at the time of booking.

• Check-In Time: Please arrive at the horse corrals 30 minutes before your scheduled ride. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated once the ride has departed, and unfortunately, no refunds can be issued.
• What to Wear: Closed-toe shoes are required for all riders. Helmets are mandatory for guests under 18 years old and will be provided. You’re welcome to bring your own equestrian helmet if preferred.
• Finding Us: The horse corrals are located on the east side of the resort. Look for the sign along the county road just before the main entrance.
